Choosing the right outfit for your job interview
Have you got an interview for your dream job and now you don't know which outfit is the right one? Is the suit too boring? Are the shoes okay? Are my accessories suitable? Suit and tie or jeans and polo?
These are all legitimate questions that you should definitely ask yourself as the big day approaches. Even if no one will probably admit it: In reality, the outfit makes the man and first impressions count! That's why it's important to know the company's dress code to optimize your chances of getting the job.

The basic rules for your interview outfit
First things first: make sure that everything is well cared for: ironed pants and shirts, no half-loose buttons or a hem that is slowly coming undone. With your accessories, make sure that the individual pieces match and that the overall look is coherent. Regular care is particularly important for leather accessories: shine your shoes again, use a leather care product for your bracelet and look your best!
Avoid digital watches or wristwatches with large dials that are overloaded with huge tachymeters, world time zone displays etc. Find a watch with a leather strap and a simple dial that suits your wrist.
Be overdressed rather than underdressed. Get your best suit out of the wardrobe, wear a long-sleeved shirt instead of a polo shirt and choose elegant shoes. But don't wear anything you don't feel comfortable in. It's best to try your outfit on a few times so that you're sure that everything fits and doesn't restrict or bother you in any way. If you feel comfortable in your clothes, you will radiate this and appear more confident!
Before you decide on an outfit, take a look at the company's website or social media to find out how your future colleagues are dressed. Dress a little better.
If you need to take a laptop or documents (CV, certificates, etc.) to your interview, a high-quality briefcase or folder would be perfect for this! Avoid backpacks and don't just carry your laptop and documents loose in your hand. After all, your goal is to make a good impression on your interviewer!

If you are applying for a job in an international group in the insurance or finance sector, your outfit should be understated: With a dark suit, a white or striped shirt, cufflinks, tie, leather shoes and discreet accessories, you're on the safe side. A narrow leather bracelet harmonizes well with a long-sleeved shirt and doesn't stand out too much.
Choose classic colors such as blue, grey and white for your suit and shirt - avoid black, which should be reserved for evening events. The aim here is not to show originality, but to give the impression of seriousness.

Choosing accessories for your business casual outfit
A less formal job interview doesn't mean you shouldn't wear an elegant and above all serious outfit. For example, if you are aiming for a job in marketing or in a trendy start-up, a suit is not a must - but there is nothing wrong with wearing one either. Make a compromise and leave your tie at home with your suit.
Instead, pick a stylish accessory that emphasizes your style. This could be a bracelet in a color that matches the rest of your outfit or a watch that is both stylish and discreet.
